By Dr. Mitchell Mosher Throughout the years that I practiced Podiatric Medicine and Foot Surgery, I witnessed countless medical events [signs, symptoms, disabilities], the journeys they took the patients on, and the mishaps that occurred along the way, or in the end. I likewise witnessed countless medical miracles worked by the hands of "Complimentary aka Alternative Practitioners". During this period of my life, I became a, BEHAVIORAL ANALYST = A PEOPLE WATCHER. I also learned how to connect the dots so that I could see the big picture.
In 1995 I began incorporating some of the "Natural Health Options" into my practice. Immediately, I detected something very good was happening. In all of the years that I practiced Conventional Western Medicine and Surgery, I can not recall any patient saying the following; "Dr. Mosher, I do not know what you did, but you changed my life", "Dr. Mosher, you won't believe what happened after your treatment last week" - all good I might add, "I wish my medical doctor would take this natural and holistic approach to my health care issues", "If I only knew then what I know now, my life would have been different. I only wish that I had met you sooner rather than later"- this one happened only once that I can remember! I still used the cortisone, collagen, and alcohol injections, prescribed some pharmaceuticals, and performed some surgeries, but these were only necessary about half as much as before I began this journey. Additionally, I noted that my favorable treatment outcomes went from 75-80% good [traditional medicine], to 95-98% good [combined approach]! My practice evolved from a foot pain and deformity orientation to foot pain, deformity, and compensated pains in the legs, knees, hips, backs, and necks. Also, with the holistic approach of bodywork I used, my patients also experienced improvements with their; headaches, moods, fertility, digestion, breathing, anxieties, and a multitude of medical issues including one case of Tourette's Syndrome. I make sure that my patients understand that I am not examining, diagnosing, or treating their medical events. I do my therapies for stress reduction, relaxation, and postural re-alignment. I do fully understand that the therapies by way of reflex arcs can often influence the nervous, immune, endocrine, connective tissue, direct currents, meridian, body-mind, and musculoskeletal systems. As I immersed my mind with books and literature from the depths of Natural Methods and scientific materials, it became clear to me that Western Medicine is missing some chapters from its' repair manuals. It's no wonder that so many medical enigmas exist. But, what really jumps out to me is the fact that so many people are medicated, tested, and surgerized, when they might not have needed any of those in the first place. What comes after that is, that there are many morbid mishaps, and even deaths, as a result of prescription drugs and elective and semi-elective surgeries. And then, it makes one wonder, how many of these were really necessary? My conclusions are: 1. Have your sign, symptom, or disability checked by proper medical personnel and have tests and procedures to insure that there is no serious or life threatening process occurring. 2. Find a Holistic Natural Health Practitioner who has a strong network in place and who can guide you through the maize if needed. Hope that he or she will fix your problem, or will send you on to the one who can. 3. Begin your own HEALTH REFORM ACT: a. Physical Reform Release of holding patterns Exercise to create new patterns b. Nutritional Reform Replace old eating habits with new ones c. Hydration Reform Hydrate dehydrated tissues and organs with alkaline water d. Mental and Emotional Reform Release of old negative thoughts and emotions Replace with new positive thoughts and emotions 4. Pursue pharmaceutical and surgical therapy for alleviation of the acute process, but look to other options for removal of root causes and long term remissions. 5. Use pharmaceutical and surgical approaches for long term remissions only after doing the above. 6. If your medical doctor has not studied a subject thoroughly, do not accept his or her opinion on the matter. If it is contrary to their belief system, they will usually try to debunk it. 7. Health Care Reform will give more Americans access to an already flawed medical system, which will include both positive and negative results. |
